    Snow Melting Mats Lower Slip-and-Fall Rates, Liability Exposure at Los Alamos

    Doraville, GA, April 2017—Los Alamos National Laboratory is located a short distance from Santa Fe, NM. With winter temperatures there often dipping into the teens and low 20s, and an average snow accumulation of 20-plus inches a year, keeping the facility’s more than 9,000 employees safe by reducing winter-related slip-and-fall accidents is a serious concern.  To help meet the challenge, the LANL facility maintenance team recently installed a HeatTrak Snow Melting Mat System to keep a walkway behind one of its buildings clear of snow and ice.
